A near disaster occurred this week in Russia during a recent leg of the Sochi Olympic torch relay as the jacket of a torchbearer caught on fire while he was carrying it.
Former Russian bobsledder Pyotr Makarchuk was jogging through the city of Abakan with the torch when drops of liquid gas fell on his left shoulder, causing a flame to light up on the left arm of Makarchuk's jacket.
Fortunately, escorts were able to quickly put out the fire and Makarchuk was uninjured.
