Dallas Mavericks guard Vince Carter was ejected from Wednesday night's game for throwing an elbow at Oklahoma City Thunder rookie center Steven Adams.
It happened in the third quarter as Adams had the ball near the basket and Carter was defending him. Adams turned to pass the ball to a teammate and accidentally hit Carter in the side of the head with his elbow. After Carter was unable to draw a foul with a head flop, he retaliated with a deliberate elbow to Carter's face as they positioned themselves for a rebound as a shot went up.
After the officials reviewed the replay, Carter received a flagrant two and was ejected, while Adams received a technical foul but stayed in the game.
Regardless of whether he thought it was justified, as a seasoned veteran, Carter should know the unwritten rule: The second guy always gets caught.
H/T FTW.
