Actor and Boston native Mark Wahlberg told TMZ that he was happy for former Red Sox outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury, who just signed a 7-year, $153 million dollar contract with the New York Yankees.
When TMZ about Wahlberg about his initial reaction to Ellsbury becoming a Yankee, Wahlberg said "We got the (World Series) ring already. Let him get his money."
Unlike some Red Sox fans who seem to be harboring negative sentiment towards Ellsbury for joining their biggest rival, Wahlberg said "I'm very happy for him. He's a great guy and played fantastic."
Wahlberg finished the interview by providing a valuable Red Sox fan perspective about the Yankees signing Ellsbury: "As long as they didn't take Pedroia".
