Marcus Smart facing suspension after pushing Texas Tech fan (Video)

Oklahoma State Cowboys guard Marcus Smart is likely to be suspended for pushing a Texas Tech Red Raiders fan after tumbling into the stands during the final seconds in Saturday night's Big 12 college basketball matchup in Lubbock.

Marcus Smart pushes Texas Tech fan
Smart fell into the front row of the stands after committing a foul to stop a Texas Tech fast break basket with 6.2 seconds left in the game. As he was being helped up, Smart suddenly turned around to face a fan named Jeff Orr, a Texas Tech fan who has a history of heckling opponents. We don't know what Orr said, but he seemed immediately apologetic as the video shows Orr saying "Sorry about that" right before Smart shoved him. Obviously Orr knew he shouldn't have said whatever he said.

Smart only received a technical foul on the play, but he can expect further punishment after the Big 12 and/or NCAA review this incident. Although the fan's actions should be looked into, Smart needs to keep his head and just walk away, regardless of how hard that may be. Unfortunately, now Smart has to be concerned about how this will impact his reputation, especially if he hopes to play in the NBA next year.

UPDATE: Smart has been suspended for 3 games.
