Rory McIlroy had some trouble with his second shot at the par-4 15th hole as he tried to punch out of the desert during Wednesday's opening round of the Accenture Match Play Championship. After driving his tee shot left into the desert, McIlroy had to take a swing with the ball lying against a rock. Not only did the ball allegedly ricochet off a cameraman and wind up deeper in the desert, but a spectator ended up falling backwards into a jumping cholla cactus. Ouch.
Despite McIlroy's trouble in the desert, he still defeated Boo Weekley, 3 and 2, in the Ben Hogan bracket. As for the fan, we hope that McIlroy gave him a pair of signed gloves for his troubles. It's the least he could do.
