Cincinnati Reds second baseman Brandon Phillips accidentally hit an umpire directly in the groin with a line drive during the second inning of Monday's spring training game against Cleveland.
Third base umpire Brad Myers was positioned between second and third base on the edge of the grass and had no chance to get out of the way of the hard-hit line drive. Myers went down in a heap and stayed down for several minutes as trainers from both teams came out to check on him.
Myers was carted off and did not return. Although he did tip his cap to the crowd to indicate that he was OK, Myers was still in obvious pain.
