Mike Cammalleri takes the ice without blades in his skates (Video)

Calgary Flames forward Mike Cammalleri had a major skate malfunction before Saturday night's game in Edmonton when he took the ice without any blades in his skates. Cammalleri fell to the ice immediately and could only get to his knees as his Flames teammates pushed him off the ice so he could get his blades.

There may have been a miscommunication where Cammalleri told the trainer he was going to wear a different pair of skates, so the trainer didn't put the blades in the skates that Cammalleri ended up wearing. It's a bit amazing that Cammalleri didn't discover that his blades were missing before he hit the ice.

If that weren't enough, Cammalleri had another malfunction with one of his skates 10 days earlier which nearly caused him to faceplant into the top of the boards while walk onto the ice at a home game. That could have been an even bigger disaster.

Hopefully Cammalleri takes a little extra time checking his skates before the games from now on.
