In Thursday night's Big West men's college basketball game at UC Santa Barbara, a fan ran onto the court and screamed in the face of visiting Hawaii coach Gib Arnold before being ejected from the arena.
It happened with 6:02 remaining in the first half as Arnold walked onto the court to argue against an intentional foul called against Brandon Spearman. As Arnold was being restrained by one of his players, the UCSB student came down the aisle, ran onto the court and got in the face of Arnold, appearing to curse at him. Hawaii players Christian Standhardinger and Garrett Nevels pushed the fan away from their coach. The fan seemed to challenge the Hawaii players to come after him as he backpedaled and then ran off the court, escorted by security from the arena.
This is something that can not be allowed in sports. Fans need to behave themselves at sporting events and stay out of the action. Hopefully this UCSB student will be punished appropriately.
DISCLAIMER: Should be needless to say, but Holdout Sports does not condone this behavior.
