Minnesota Twins designated hitter Chris Colabello hit a game-tying home run while his mom was giving a live television interview during the fourth inning of Wednesday night's game in Tampa Bay.
Colabello's mother, Sylvana, was celebrating her birthday at Tropicana Field, and was giving a live interview during the top of the fourth inning as he came to the plate. The reporter interviewing her said "Let's hope Chris gives her a nice present in this at-bat." Colabello hit a 2-run homer on the very next pitch to tie the game at 2-2.
You couldn't write a script any better than that. What a great birthday present for his mom.
