Los Angeles Angels pitcher Garrett Richards threw a high pitch that hit the back wall and came right back to him without the catcher touching it during Monday night's game in Washington.
In the bottom of the fourth, Richards threw a high pitch to Nationals batter Denard Span that went over the glove of catcher Chris Iannetta into the backstop. However, the pitch hit the top of the back wall in just the right spot that it ricocheted high over the plate towards the mound, allowing Richards to pick it up on a bounce without having to move.
Span walked on the pitch and came around to score, but it was the only run of the game for the Nationals. Richards pitched six innings but did not get the win, as the Angels were held scoreless until the eighth. However, the Angels scored four runs in the eighth inning on the way to a 4-2 victory.
