After Baltimore Orioles first baseman Nick Markakis hit the game-winning single in Saturday night's 10-inning 3-2 walk-off win over Kansas City, he was rewarded with some cream pie - and not to the face. As Markakis was giving his postgame interview, teammate J.J. Hardy approached him from behind with the pie and a spoon, politely offering Markakis a couple of bites. Markakis seemed to appreciate the gesture.
Afterwards, the Orioles did deliver a surprise pie to the face - of their mascot.
