A Boston Red Sox fan proposed to his girlfriend behind home plate during a Shane Victorino at-bat in the bottom of the ninth inning during Thursday night's game at Fenway Park.
This marriage proposal was unlike most proposals seen at baseball parks, which usually take place during a timeout in the game. In this case, the man and his girlfriend stood up in the front row as Victorino prepared to face a 1-1 pitch from New York Yankees closer David Robertson. The man then down on one knee and presented the ring as he popped the question while Victorino swung and missed. She said yes and the nearby fans stood and applauded.
There weren't a lot of people left in the park to witness the proposal, as most Red Sox fans left early with the team down 14-5 in the bottom of the ninth. However, at least this fan, and his new fiance, had a memorable evening, which was perfectly captured on video.
