Milwaukee Brewers right fielder Ryan Braun accidentally knocked teammate Jean Segura out of the game by hitting him in the face with a practice swing during the bottom of the first inning of Saturday night's game against Chicago.
It happened in the middle of the first inning as the Brewers were getting ready to take their turn to bat. Carlos Gomez was in the on-deck circle preparing to lead off, with Segura scheduled to bat second. Ryan Braun, who was batting third, was on the top dugout step and swung the bat behind him to loosen up his arm. Braun didn't look behind him and Segura wasn't paying attention when disaster struck as Braun hit Segura in the side of the face with the bat.
Segura was immediately taken out of the game to seek medical attention and was replaced by Jeff Bianchi. No word yet as to the status of Segura.
