The Braves ballboy ran to grab a ball that was fouled off behind the plate on the 0-1 pitch to Cubs batter Jeff Samardzija. However, the ballboy was forced to make a mad dash to get back to his position as he saw Santana working quickly to ready himself for the 0-2 pitch. The result was the unusual sight of the ballboy running behind the umpire as Santana was making his delivery.
The pitch ended up being a ball, but Santana was able to strike out Samardzija in the end.
