Kansas City Royals broadcaster Rex Hudler had an embarrassing gaffe on the air during Tuesday night's game against Colorado when he mistakenly referred to the moon as a planet.
It happened heading into the bottom of the fourth as FOX Sports cameras captured a fantastic close-up view of a full moon in the sky, leading Hudler to call the moon a "beautiful planet". Naturally, that led to some awkward dialogue as broadcast partner Ryan Lefebvre had no choice but to point out Hudler's mistake.
It just so happens that the next day's game was "School Day" at Kauffman Stadium. If Hudler needed a refresher course on planets and moons, he could probably find a science teacher in attendance to help him out.
