New York Yankees second baseman Brian Roberts had an awkward moment on the basepath when a pickoff attempt to catch him at second base ended up stuck between his legs during Thursday night's game at Seattle.
In the top of the fourth with Roberts on second, Mariners catcher Mike Zunino made the throw to second after the 1-1 pitch to Yankees batter Brett Gardner. As Roberts slid into the bag (with his back to home plate), the ball got "caught" between his legs, leaving shortstop Brad Miller wondering where the ball went.
The play made for a good laugh for everyone involved, especially YES network broadcasters covering the play, calling it Roberts' version of "the old hidden ball trick".
