Miami Marlins starting pitcher Henderson Alvarez used an elaborate windup as part of his first pitch to open up Friday night's game against the New York Mets.
Alvarez apparently does this for each of his starts, and only for the very first pitch of the game.
As strange as it may look, it seems to be working for him, as Alvarez pitched 6 1/3 shutout innings and earned the win in the 3-2 Marlins victory.
