In the bottom of the third, Samardzija tried to lay down a bunt on a 1-0 pitch but popped it up in the air to the first baseman for the out. Samardzija was clearly angry at himself, resulting in the impromptu Bo Jackson imitation.
Samardzija pitched six solid innings, only giving up one run, but failed to get the win. This time, the Cubs bullpen gave up five runs in the ninth inning to hand the Reds a 6-1 victory.
