Detroit Tigers slugger Miguel Cabrera greeted Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve by literally picking him up before Sunday's game at Minute Maid Park.
After shaking hands before the game, Altuve went in for the man-hug while Cabrera wrapped his arms around him and lifted him up over his shoulder before putting him back down. It was all in fun, as both players are from Venezuela, so they share a common bond.
Altuve only stands 5-foot-5, so he looks up to Cabrera literally and figuratively. The friendly greeting may have inspired Altuve's performance in the game, as he went 3-for-5 with 2 steals in the 6-4 Astros victory.
Although Cabrera is a two-time American League MVP, Altuve is proving himself to be a solid player in his own right, leading the majors with 116 hits. Altuve's 36 steals for the season has already surpassed his career high, and he became the first player since 1917 to record multiple stolen basis in four straight games.
