On Monday, the Tampa Bay Rays invited "Knuckleball Princess" Chelsea Baker, a 17-year-old baseball pitcher from Durant High School in Plant City, Florida, to throw live batting practice for the team.
Baker mostly threw knuckleballs to the Rays and made quite a few of them swing and miss. In the process, Baker became the youngest woman ever to throw MLB batting practice.
Baker has played baseball since she was 5 years old, sticking with it after realizing she was better than her brothers. It also didn't hurt that Baker was coached in Little League by the late Joe Niekro, a knuckleball specialist.
