Don Zimmer once (jokingly) wanted to fight Vin Scully (Video)

Los Angeles Dodgers broadcaster Vin Scully shared a funny personal story about baseball legend Don Zimmer during Wednesday night's game as the news broke that Zimmer had passed away at the age of 83.

It happened during one particular game in the mid-80s as the Dodgers faced the Chicago Cubs, managed by Zimmer. Scully was given permission from the Dodgers to dress up in uniform and sit in the dugout for the game, so he got dressed and snuck into the dugout after the National Anthem. Scully sat with his arms folded and cap over his face, not thinking anyone outside of the team knew he was even there.

However, at the end of half an inning, the Cubs first base coach ran by the dugout and hollered "Vinny!" Scully looked up as the coach threw a ball to him. Scully caught the ball and read what was written on it:
"If a fight breaks out, I want you!"
The ball was signed by Zimmer, and when Scully looked across the field, he saw the Cubs laughing hysterically.

Scully tells the story much better than we can, so it's worth a look and a listen as one legend pays tribute to another:
