Detroit Tigers center fielder Austin Jackson was pulled from center field in the middle of the seventh inning during Thursday's game against Chicago when it became official that he had been traded, and the home crowd at Comerica Park said goodbye with standing ovation.
The moment came with a 2-2 count to White Sox batter Gordon Beckham with one out and the bases loaded. Tigers manager Brad Ausmus called time, and when Rajai Davis was sent to center field to replace Jackson, everyone seemed to understand what was happening. The home fans showed their appreciation for Jackson in his final appearance, and as he arrived in the dugout, the Tigers wished him best of luck in the future.
Jackson was sent to Seattle in a 3-way trade which allowed the Tigers to acquire David Price from Tampa Bay, making their starting pitching staff that much stronger for the stretch run.
