Sports broadcaster Bob Costas threw out the first pitch before Tuesday night's St. Louis Cardinals game at Busch Stadium, but his throw was so bad that he demanded a do-over.
Costas was clearly pumped up, but threw his first pitch WAY outside to the left of home plate, and Cards catcher A.J. Pierzynski couldn't handle it. After Pierzynski chased the ball into the backstop, Costas asked for "another crack at it" to redeem himself.
Costas' second attempt was a quality strike, but it won't erase the memory of his wild first pitch. We can't verify whether Costas is the first person to throw out the first and second pitch at a major league baseball game, but we don't know anyone else who has pulled it off.
