Philadelphia Phillies second baseman Chase Utley hit a go-ahead RBI single by literally throwing his bat at a pitch during the fourth inning of Wednesday's game against Seattle.
Utley let go of his bat as he swung at a 2-2 pitch, but managed to hit a blooper into the air and over the outstretched arm of Mariners second baseman Robinson Cano. The single knocked in Jimmy Rollins from second to give the Phillies a 4-3 lead, which they would hold onto for the victory.
Utley's single broke an 0-for-13 slump, proving that sometimes it's better to be lucky than good.
