Derek Jeter's nephew, Jalen Jeter, stole the spotlight from his famous uncle by tipping his New York Yankees cap to the home crowd during pregame ceremonies before Wednesday night's Detroit Tigers game at Comerica Park.
The Tigers were honoring Jeter during his final trip to Detroit before he retires at the end of the season. With Derek having grown up in nearby ]Kalamazoo, Michigan, the entire Jeter family was invited to take part in the pregame ceremony. After calling the names of Derek's parents, Charles and Dorothy, and Derek's sister, Sharlee, the P.A. announcer called Jalen's name. With a cue from Sharlee, Jalen Jeter, who was being held in his mother's arms, took off his cap and tipped it to the crowd like a true professional.
The crowd clapped and cheered Jalen Jeter in an awesome family moment.
