San Diego Padres designated hitter Tommy Medica suffered an embarrassing moment of hilarious proportions when he tripped after rounding first on an infield popup during the second inning of Wednesday's game in Minnesota.
Medica lost his footing as he took those few extra steps past first base, resulting in a faceplant that covered his uniform in dirt. There wasn't anywhere for him to hide, but Medica seemed to laugh it off pretty well as he headed back to the dugout.
Despite the embarrassing play, Medica ended up with a respectable game, going 2-for-5 with an RBI in the Padres' 5-4 win over the Twins.
