Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig broke his bat on a check swing during his seventh inning at-bat in Friday night's game in Milwaukee.
Puig tried to check his swing on a 2-1 pitch, and the handle of the bat stayed back, but the bat snapped and the barrel went flying halfway across the infield. There's a good chance the bat was partially broken already, but you never see a bat break on a check swing. If that's not evidence of Puig's strength, we don't know what is.
Given the circumstances, the umpire had to call a strike on Puig, and we couldn't blame him. However, Puig ended up with a walk, so no harm, no foul.
