New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter brought some laughs to his postgame press conference Sunday by answering a reporter's phone in the middle of Q&A.
Jeter had a few phones placed in front of him as voice recorders as he was answering questions when one of them began buzzing. After wrapping up one of his answers, Jeter said "Someone's phone is ringing," then picked it up and announced the name of the inbound caller: "Walt Rheinheimer." Jeter answered the phone and said "Walt, she'll have to call you back, buddy."
According to the NY Daily News, the phone belonged to Bergen Record columnist Tara Sullivan, who was covering the events of "Derek Jeter Day" at Yankee Stadium, and Rheinheimer is her husband. This probably made for some interesting dinner conversation.
