New York Mets rookie pitcher Jacob deGrom tied a major league record by striking out eight consecutive batters to start Monday night's game against the Miami Marlins.
The streak was broken up by a base hit in the bottom of the third, but deGrom got a well-deserved hand from the Citi Field crowd.
Unfortunately, deGrom didn't get the win as the Mets game up the lead late and lost to the Marlins 6-5.
