FC Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi was choked by an opposing player during Wednesday's La Liga soccer match against Malaga.
In the 82nd minute, Malaga defender Welington grabbed Messi by the throat and shoved him. As players from both sides converged, Malaga goalkeeper Carlos Kameni stepped in to help keep the situation under control.
Although Messi may have embellished a bit as he fell to the ground, Welington only received a yellow card for his unsportsmanlike behavior.
After the match, Welington claimed that his violent reaction was triggered when Messi insulted him, calling him a "son of a b----".
The match ended in a 0-0 draw.
