Oakland Athletics starting pitcher Sonny Gray pitched a complete game shutout of Texas on Sunday to help the A's clinch their third straight postseason appearance. As part of the postgame celebration in the locker room, teammate Nick Punto ripped Gray's jersey to shreds.
In case you didn't know, Punto's nickname is "Shredder", and his Twitter handle is @ShredderPunto.
Punto joined the A's this year, and before the season began, A's equipment manager Steve Vucinich talked to Punto and told him that "It's not the Athletics' way to shred a uniform".
Well, apparently Punto didn't get the message, or he just couldn't help himself. It looks like Vucinich is going to have to stock up on extra jerseys for the postseason.
