Padres coach uses rear end as protection from foul ball (Video)

San Diego Padres third base coach Glenn Hoffman was forced to turn his back and use his rear end to protect himself from a foul ball during Tuesday night's game against Arizona.

In the bottom of the fifth, Padres batter Yangervis Solarte hit the foul grounder in Hoffman's direction. Hoffman was alert, but didn't have a lot of time to make a move, so he turned his backside into the ball to absorb the blow. Padres broadcaster Dick Enberg had an intersting way of describing it: "Using the old rusty dusty to knock that one down."

Hoffman appeared to be fine afterwards, but that had to hurt.
