Kansas City Royals pitcher Jason Vargas is not used to being up at the plate. That might explain why he lost track of the count and jogged to first after taking ball three during his second at-bat of the third inning in Saturday night's Game 4 of the World Series in San Francisco.
After flying out to center to start the inning, Vargas came up again with the bases loaded and two outs as the Royals batted around with a four run rally. With a 2-2 count, Vargas took a pitch outside and began jogging to first. Watch his embarrassment as Vargas realizes it was not ball four:
The Royals on the bench had a good laugh as they told Vargas to stop and head back to the plate:
Who says you can't have a good laugh while playing in the World Series?
Sadly, Vargas ended up striking out to end the rally. The Royals weren't able to score any more runs in the game, while the Giants scored a flurry of runs in the middle innings to win 11-4 and tie the series at two games apiece.
