Toronto Maple Leafs right winger Daniel Winnik left Thursday night's game against Colorado on a stretcher after being knocked off balance from a collision and landing onto the ice head first in the very first minute of the game.
Winnik chipped the puck past defenseman Jan Hejda into the Avalanche zone when Hejda took him out of the play. Unfortunately, Winnik fell so awkwardly that he landed nearly upside down.
Winnik stayed down on the ice for several minutes before finally being carried off on the stretcher. Fortunately, the Maple Leafs PR Twitter account had some good news to report later on:
Daniel Winnik is alert and moving. He is currently being evaluated by the Leafs' team doctor. #TMLtalk
