Over the past few days, all signs have been pointing to Jim Harbaugh becoming the next head coach of the Michigan Wolverines after a mutual agreement to step away from his duties with the San Francisco 49ers.
Harbaugh is expected to sign a 6-year, $48 million contract with Michigan, which would make him the highest paid coach in college football history. This is obviously front page news in the state of Michigan, which makes it completely inexcusable that the Detroit Free Press headline for the story showed a picture of John Harbaugh on the front page instead of Jim.
Granted that John Harbaugh is Jim's brother, but let's be clear: John Harbaugh is head coach of the Baltimore Ravens and is not headed to Michigan.
So how did the Detroit Free Press mess this up? It's not like the Jim Harbaugh story just came out of nowhere, as these rumors have been floating around for quite some time now. We understand that mistakes are made from time to time, but you would think there would be additional checks on the front page before heading to print.
