Alba had chased the ball out of play and turned around to run back to his position, but was too close to the nearby linesman, who was flagging for the throw-in. The linesman put his hand down just as Alba was passing him, and as a result, Alba was hit in the back of the head and fell to the ground.
There's plenty of ways to get injured on the pitch, but you probably wouldn't expect to get whacked in the head with a flag during a game. It's safe to say that Alba didn't see that one coming.
