Ohio State Buckeyes head football coach Urban Meyer tossed his headset in frustration after getting the short end of a controversial call in the fourth quarter of Thursday night's Sugar Bowl against Alabama.
It happened about halfway through the fourth quarter with Ohio State backed up on their own 4-yard line on fourth down, forcing them to punt from their own end zone. Alabama made contact with the Ohio State punter on the fourth down play. However, instead of calling a 15-yard "roughing the kicker" penalty, which would have given Ohio State a first down, the officials called a 5-yard "running into the kicker" penalty, meaning Ohio State would only be getting a do-over on the punt. Meyer was so disgusted that he threw his headset as far as he could.
Fortunately, things worked out for Meyer in the end as Ohio State beat Alabama 42-35 to advance to the final of the College Football Playoff against Oregon.
