Dallas Stars left winger Antoine Roussel was ejected from Tuesday night's game against Boston for cross-checking Bruins defenseman Adam McQuaid in the neck.
It happened less than four minutes into the game as McQuaid bumped Roussel off the puck near the boards. Roussel didn't like it and retaliated with the vicious check to the throat.
Roussel was given a five minute major and a game misconduct, and will have a hearing Thursday with the NHL Department of Player Safety where he may receive further discipline.
McQuaid returned to the game after being checked out in the dressing room. The Stars won the game 5-3.
UPDATE: Roussel has been suspended for 2 games.
