Several entertaining stories are coming out of the after-party that followed Sunday night's Saturday Night Live 40th Anniversary special, a.k.a. "SNL 40". The latest involves rapper Jay-Z mixing up retired major league pitchers when he confused David Wells for Curt Schilling and asked about the bloody sock.
Wells had appeared on SNL a few times during his time with the New York Yankees. Schilling had no connection to SNL and was not at the party - and also looks nothing like Schilling, making this case of mistaken identity pretty funny.
Naturally, word of the story has gotten back to Schilling, prompting this reaction:
We don't know whether Wells called out Jay-Z on the mistake, but he's getting a good laugh out of it:
H/T BLS.
Funniest story of the afterparty was when Jay Z thought @BoomerWells33 was Curt Shilling and asked him about the bloody sock
