In Sunday soccer action from Italy, Lazio midfielder Antonio Candreva injured himself celebrating his game-winning goal in the 78th minute of their Serie A match against Palermo.
Candreva made a brilliant shot into the top corner of the net and ran over to the stands to celebrate with the fans. However, Candreva managed to step on a slippery surface on the outer edge of the field and rammed his right knee into a metal gate.
Candreva hobbled away and had to be subbed out of the game. Fortunately, the injury was deemed not to be serious, so Candreva should consider himself lucky. This isn't the worst goal celebration failure that we've seen in soccer, and we've seen celebrations gone wrong in other sports as well.
Welcome to the club, Antonio.
