New England Patriots cornerback Malcolm Butler and wide receiver Julian Edelman have been rewarded for their big performances in Super Bowl XLIX with a trip to Disneyland.
Edelman and Butler were tracked down immediately after the game to shout the classic tag line "We're going to Disneyland!" as the stars of this year's Disney Parks Super Bowl commercial, which will be airing over the next few days. Edelman and Butler made the trip to Disneyland on Monday for the heroes parade.
In Sunday's big game, Edelman caught nine catches for 109 yards, including the go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter. Meanwhile, Butler made the game-saving interception in the final seconds to seal the win for the Pats, a play that may go down as the biggest play in Super Bowl history.
In many cases, the star of the Super Bowl Disney commercial has been the MVP, but Tom Brady's gone through this before. It's nice for Disney to let someone else bask in the glory.
Just think about the whirlwind ride that Malcolm Butler has taken in the last 24 hours, from a virtual unknown to Super Bowl hero and star of a Disneyland commercial. You can't write Hollywood stories like this.
