In Premier League action, Queens Park Rangers midfielder Joey Barton was sent off in the 32nd minute of Saturday morning's match against Hull City for punching Tom Huddleston in the groin.
Barton was arguing with the referee when Huddleston grabbed him on the shoulder in an apparent attempt to get Barton to back off. That seemed to be the trigger that caused Barton to deliver the cheap shot below the belt.
Barton has now been carded in eight consecutive Premier League matches, having been dealt a yellow card in each of his last seven matches prior to Saturday.
To make matters worse, Barton was wearing the captain's armband in the match. Maybe QPR should consider getting Barton some anger management training instead of "rewarding" his behavior. It's not a good look when your team captain punches an opponent in the crotch.
As karma would have it, Hull City won the match 2-1.
