Dallas Mavericks guard Rajon Rondo was benched in the third quarter of Tuesday night's game against Toronto after a heated exchange with head coach Rick Carlisle over a timeout call.
With the Mavs trailing 62-53 near the eight-minute mark of the third, Rondo ignored Carlisle's request to call a timeout, forcing Carlisle to call the timeout himself. Carlisle yelled at Rondo as he walked back to the bench, and Rondo had an angry response. We could only speculate as to what Rondo said, but given the fact that he did not return to the game, it must not have been very appropriate.
As it turned out, the Mavericks were able to come from behind to beat the Raptors 99-92. Time will tell if Rondo and Carlisle can put this behind them.
