It happened in the third inning as Athletics batter Andy Parrino hit a soft comebacker off a broken bat. Kershaw tried to get out of the way but was hit in the cheek. Fortunately, however, Kershaw was able to continue after being checked out by medical staff.
Kershaw finished after five innings, giving up only one run on three hits. Kershaw also had a hit in the game.
