Boston Celtics point guard Marcus Smart was ejected from Friday night's game against San Antonio for punching Spurs center Matt Bonner in the groin.
It happened with about nine minutes remaining in the fourth quarter as the Celtics were losing by 22 points. With the Spurs on offense, Smart fought through one screen to find Bonner in position to screen him again. That apparently was enough to set off Smart, who wound up and delivered an uppercut to Bonner's crotch.
The referees didn't see it happen, but were forced to stop play after Bonner and Smart came nose-to-nose. After a discussion, Smart was assessed a flagrant 2 foul and sent to the locker room.
You may remember that Smart got himself in trouble last year for pushing an opposing fan in the crowd, so he still needs to work on keeping his cool.
