Now here's something you don't see every day: a chicken tender dropped from the sky onto the pitcher's mound during the 12th inning of Thursday night's San Francisco Giants game against Arizona.
The chicken tender bounced on the grass and landed on the outer edge of the mound just as D-backs pitcher Randall Delgado was delivering a pitch to Giants batter Buster Posey, who flied out to center field. It was apparently dropped by one of a few hundred seagulls that began flying above AT&T Park during the extra innings of the game.
A hilariously awkward moment ensued as D-backs players and home plate umpire converged at the mound to determine what to do about the chicken, but no one volunteered to pick it up. Instead, third baseman Aaron Hill simply kicked it to the back of the mound, and the game continued.
