SF Giants fan jumps into McCovey Cove for Joe Panik's HR ball (Video)

A San Francisco Giants fan jumped into McCovey Cove to retrieve a home run ball hit by Joe Panik during the seventh inning of Friday night's game at AT&T Park.

Panik's two-run homer gave the Giants a 13-2 lead over Philadelphia. The ball bounced in the right field stands, then again on the sidewalk on the outside of the stadium before landing in the water. The fan didn't think twice about going into the water to snag the souvenir for himself, and he definitely didn't think about how he was going to get out of the water.

There was no ladder in the spot where the fan jumped into the water, and probably for good reason. The fan was tossed a life preserver to help him get to a ladder on the dock nearby, but he had to swim a fair distance in water that was probably pretty cold. Fortunately, he was OK, and he was able to hold onto the ball.
