Sylvester Stallone returns to his iconic role one more time as Rocky Balboa in the upcoming movie Creed. Michael B. Jordan co-stars as Adonis Creed, son of Rocky's late friend Apollo Creed, who calls upon the former World Heavyweight Champion to train him.
Warner Bros. Pictures has now released the full official trailer for the movie, which will be released this fall. Take a look:
In our opinion, the last Rocky movie "Rocky Balboa" (a.k.a. Rocky VI) was much better than we expected and did a great job to bring the franchise full circle. It seemed to be the perfect way to bring the Rocky series to a close, and the movie was set up that way. However, it seems that Stallone found a few million reasons to make one more Rocky movie, which has us bracing for disappointment this time around.
That being said, Creed looks to be more of a spinoff than a sequel. Some people may watch this movie expecting "Rocky VII", and there will be lots of references to the prior films. Based on the trailer, however, Jordan's Creed character will carry the movie, with Stallone's Balboa serving as a supporting role, and that may be for the best. If this doesn't work out for Jordan, at least he's got the new Fantastic Four franchise to fall back on.
We're cautiously optimistic on this one. As long as it's not as bad as Rocky V, so there's hope.
