Angels fan holding toddler nearly flips over railing reaching for HR ball (Video)

A Los Angeles Angels fan holding a toddler was caught in an uncomfortably dangerous position Monday night as he nearly flipped over a railing in an attempt to grab a home run ball.

Angels fan nearly flips over railing with toddler
In the bottom of the second, Albert Pujols hit the home run to left field that bounced in front of the stands. As the Angels fan held his toddler with his right arm, he tried to snag the ball with his glove in the other hand, but the ball slipped out. When the ball fell on the grass in front of the railing, the Angels fan reached all the way over to grab the ball, with his toddler holding on for dear life. (We would hope that if he had to do it over again, he would put the toddler down before reaching over the railing next time).

Despite the big reach by the Angels fan, the ball slipped out of his glove again, and an usher came over to help retrieve the ball. However, instead of giving the ball to the fan, or his toddler, the usher tossed the ball to someone else completely, leaving this fan with nothing to show for his efforts.

Shortly afterwards, the Angels TV broadcast team felt bad for the fan and arranged for someone to give him a baseball with their autographs. Not sure if it's a good idea to be "rewarding" him for putting himself and his child in harm's way. We wouldn't want other dads to follow this example.
