Paul Goldschmidt's double sticks to outfield wall (Video)

Arizona Diamondbacks first baseman Paul Goldschmidt hit a ground-rule double which would have bounced off the outfield wall had it not got stuck in the padding during Tuesday night's game against St. Louis.

In the bottom of the fourth, Goldschmidt hit a deep fly ball to right-center field, with Cardinals right fielder Jason Heyward positioning himself to play the carom off the wall. Amazingly, the baseball lodged itself right between two pieces of padding, becoming stuck to the wall like Velcro.

Time was called and the play was ruled a ground rule double, but Goldschmidt likely would have reached second base anyway. Goldschmidt came around to score the only run of the game for the D-backs, who lost to the Cardinals 9-1.

As far as the outfield wall goes, the Chase Field grounds crew might want to take a closer look at that padding. We've never seen a baseball stick to an outfield wall like that, and it's not supposed to happen.
